The Vision

Taoism · I Ching · Quantum Physics · Sacred Geometry

In the beginning was the Number, and the Number was with the Tao, and the Number was the language in which the Tao described itself to itself. Ten digits contain all of mathematics. Ten chapters contain the essential arc of existence.

Quantum Fu is a living transmission that weaves together the oldest wisdom traditions on earth with the deepest discoveries of modern physics. It is a sacred text, a visual art practice, and a daily spiritual discipline — a new canon for those who sense that the mystics and the scientists have always been describing the same thing.

"You are holding in your hands the artifact of a man who went to the edge of the number line and came back to tell you what he found there. He found zero. And zero, it turns out, contains everything."

Vision by Dirk Hardy. Given form in dialogue with Quinn.

Carl Jung

"The unconscious is the great matrix from which consciousness emerges."

Michael Singer

"You are not your thoughts. Before the first thought arises, you are already there."

Mark Nepo

"In the empty cup, all nourishment is possible. In the open heart, all love can enter."

Paramahansa Yogananda

The Canon

The Mystical Cosmology of Number

From zero to nine. From the Void to the Completion. From the Unborn to the Fully Manifested. From silence to silence, with everything in between.

0
The Unborn Void
零 · 虛空
Before the first number, before the first breath, before the first thought — there is Zero. Not emptiness as absence, but emptiness as infinite potential. The quantum vacuum seethes with possibility. The Tao that can be named is not the eternal Tao. Here at the origin, physics and mysticism say the same thing: nothing contains everything.

1
The Primal Spark
一 · 太極
From the Void, the first distinction. One emerges — not as a thing, but as the act of distinguishing itself from nothing. The Big Bang. The first Yang line. The observer collapses the wave function and reality begins. Unity is the first sacred act: the universe choosing to exist.

The Sacred Mirror
二 · 陰陽
One becomes two. Yin and Yang. Particle and wave. Observer and observed. The Sacred Mirror reveals that duality is not division but relationship — each half containing the seed of the other. Entanglement teaches us that separation is the deepest illusion.

3
The Triadic Gate
三 · 三才
Two gives birth to Three — the mediating principle, the child of opposites. Heaven, Earth, and Humanity. Proton, neutron, electron. Thesis, antithesis, synthesis. The Triadic Gate is where static polarity becomes dynamic creation. Three is the number of the world coming alive.

4
The Sacred Square
四 · 四象
Four is stability manifest. Four directions. Four seasons. Four forces of nature. The square is the foundation upon which the temple is built. In the I Ching, four arises as the Si Xiang — the four images from which the eight trigrams emerge. Structure gives spirit a place to land.

5
The Five Elements
五 · 五行
Five is the living center. The Wu Xing — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water — are not static elements but phases of transformation, a cycle of becoming. Five sits at the heart of the Magic Square. It is the fulcrum where spirit and matter meet, the pivot point of all change.

6
The Flower of Life
六 · 生命之花
Six is the geometry of life itself — the hexagon, the honeycomb, the Star of David, the six-line hexagram of the I Ching. Carbon, the element of all organic life, has atomic number six. The Flower of Life pattern repeats in sacred architecture across every civilization. Six is where number becomes biology.

7
The Sacred Spiral
七 · 螺旋
Seven is the spiral that moves through all scales — seven colors of light, seven notes of the scale, seven chakras, seven days of creation. The spiral is nature’s signature: galaxies, hurricanes, DNA, sunflowers. Seven is the number of inner revolution, the mystical journey upward through octaves of awareness.

8
The Infinite Loop
八 · 無限
Turn the 8 on its side and you have infinity. Eight trigrams form the Ba Gua. The eightfold path leads to liberation. Eight is the number of cosmic recursion — the pattern that contains itself, the serpent eating its own tail. In eight, finite and infinite become indistinguishable.
Ba Gua · Infinity · Fractal Recursion

9
The Completion
九 · 圓滿
Nine is the final digit before the return to zero. It is completion without finality — the last breath before the next beginning. All multiples of nine reduce back to nine. It is the number that cannot be destroyed. In Taoist cosmology, nine is the number of heaven’s fullness. The journey is complete. The Canon is alive.

The Incantation of Zero

I am the zero that holds all numbers.

I am the silence that births all sound.

In my emptiness, universes are born.

In my stillness, all motion begins.

I return. I return. I return.

The Practice

Daily Disciplines of the Living Canon

The Meditation

Sit in complete stillness. Breathe out fully. In the pause before the next breath — notice what is there. That spacious awareness, that witnessing presence before thought arises: this is your Zero. Rest here for seven breaths.

The Craft

Take a sheet of blank paper. Hold it before you like a mirror. See in its emptiness the same emptiness you found in the pause between breaths. This paper is your first Fu. It is already complete.

The Incantation

Speak the sacred words aloud each morning. The incantations are not affirmations — they are acts of alignment, tuning the instrument of the body to the frequency of the number you are practicing.

The Lore

Stories from the Edge of the Number Line

The Emperor's Mirror

The Emperor of the Eastern Sea commissioned the greatest mirror ever made — one that would show him the entire cosmos. When it was delivered, he stood before it and saw only himself. Furious, he summoned the craftsman. "Where is the cosmos?" The craftsman bowed. "Majesty, you are standing in front of it." The Emperor looked again. For the first time in his life, he really looked. By evening he had abdicated and become a gardener. He was, by all accounts, very good at it.

The Debate That Created the Universe

In the beginning, Silence and Sound met at the edge of the void. "I was here first," said Silence. "You cannot exist without me," replied Sound. They argued for what would have been three billion years, except that time had not yet been invented. Finally Silence said: "Fine. Demonstrate." Sound made a single note. Silence received it. In that reception, both discovered something new: that each was more interesting in the presence of the other. They have been collaborating ever since. We call their ongoing conversation "the universe."
